About
The Front and Middle Room are often combined as a reception area. Here you can welcome your guests before gradually entering the house. A dinner or ceremony in The Hall? Then cake and a toast in the garden room? A running dinner throughout the entire building? It's all possible!
The front and back room were connected in 1735 to form a suite. The front room was then furnished in the Louis XIV style, commissioned by Nicolaas Hasselaer and Anna Divera Kick Pancras, with a large marble fireplace topped with a beautifully sculpted relief of Paulus on Malta, created by the sculptor Jean-Baptist Xavery.
Also likely from this time are the 'witjes' above the doors. These are grisailles that suggest depth through the various shades of gray, created by the artist Jacob de Wit. The painted tapestries with arcadian landscapes also date from this time, but were only placed in the room in 1873 by the manufacturer Holzman. They are the work of the painter Isaac de Moucheron. The beautiful ceiling piece and the grisailles between the 17th-century beams were created by Jacob de Wit and date back to 1735. During the restoration of this room, a new parquet floor was laid in an old style.
