About the space
During its construction, Huis Bartolotti was one of the largest merchant houses in the city. Yet, it wasn't enough for the whaling ship owner Jan van Tarelink. In the middle of the 18th century, he had a huge back house built, with the highlight being the grand hall in rococo style.
The hall is very special. You step right into a fairy tale. You feel like Cinderella at the ball. Don't forget your slippers!
And don't forget to look up: the stucco work is one of the best examples of rococo in the Netherlands. It's impressive how the craftsman of that time created so many different representations in such a small relief, you can't say no to that, can you?
