Our rooms, inner garden, and terrace offer an intimate, atmospheric setting for a ceremony, dinner, or party that fits you perfectly. Getting married at Grand Café de Burcht means that everything can take place at one location: welcoming guests, morning coffee, the dressing moment, the first glance, a photoshoot in the park around the Burcht with a view over the city, by the canal, or in the characteristic city center of Leiden, ceremony (indoors or outdoors), cutting the wedding cake, drinks, dinner, and party. We will help you think about the details, the food, the layout, and everything around it.

De Burcht is perhaps the oldest part of Leiden. As early as the 11th century, there was a round fortress here on an artificial hill, built to protect the city where the Rhine and the Mare meet. For centuries, the Burcht has looked over life in the city, and it is still one of the most recognizable places in Leiden.

At the foot of that history, you will find our grand café. In a building that has also experienced many stories, we now prefer to serve a good drink rather than defend the city. But the feeling has remained: this is a place to come together. To toast, to eat, to celebrate, to enjoy drinks.

A good moment deserves a good place. A place where the atmosphere arises naturally, where you welcome people as you would at home, but with just a bit more space, attention, and service. At Grand Café de Burcht, you will find that place.

Inside, we have three rooms: The Grand Café and the Serre on the first floor, the Tuinzaal on the ground floor. All wheelchair accessible. Suitable for wedding ceremonies, dinners, drinks, and gatherings of all kinds and sizes. We ensure that everything is perfect so that you can toast, eat, talk, or dance, while we take care of everything in the background.

The Tuinzaal is a cozy, bright space, perfect for a ceremony, drinks, dinner, or party with a larger group. Secluded from the rest, but still with the liveliness of De Burcht. It is also possible to rent (part of) our Grand Café or Serre. Outside, we have our inner garden (adjacent to the Tuinzaal) and our terrace (adjacent to the Grand Café), both with a beautiful view of the Burcht of Leiden. Tuinzaal, Serre, Grand Café, and outdoor spaces can also be combined for a drinks reception or party for up to 450 people.
