About the venue
Getting married at Castle Hernen; the castle in the Land of Maas & Waal
The authentic medieval Castle Hernen has been designated by the municipality of Wijchen as an official wedding venue.
Hernen is an example of a castle that has slowly evolved over time. Defense has given way to residential comfort. In the tower (14th century), you can even touch the roof structure that is over 500 years old. Walk along the uniquely covered walkways in the Netherlands! The spectacular multimedia show in the attic sheds light on the mystery of the vanished corner tower.
Your wedding day should be a day to never forget.
The ceremony can take place from 2025 in the newly renovated 16th-century wedding hall or, if the weather is nice, in the intimate castle garden.
You can of course also come to us for organizing the entire wedding day, including the dinner. After the official ceremony, there is the opportunity to toast together on the terrace of the former Donjon and cut the wedding cake, followed by a delicious dinner with close family and best friends. Everything can be tailored to your wishes; in principle, the castle is not furnished, but we work closely with other partners to decorate the castle according to your taste and preferences.
We strive to provide you with an unforgettable day. Make an appointment with us at the castle so that we can enthusiastically show you the entire location and discuss the possibilities with you. Castle Hernen is a top location for the beginning of a fantastic marriage.
