About the venue
Weddings at Castle Hernen; the castle in the land of Maas & Waal
The authentic medieval Castle Hernen has been designated by the municipality of Wijchen as an official wedding location.
Hernen is an example of a castle that has grown slowly over time. Defense gave way to comfort over the years. In the tower (14th century), you can even touch the roof structure that is over 500 years old. Walk along the uniquely covered walkways in the Netherlands! The spectacular multimedia show in the attic sheds light on the mystery of the vanished corner tower.
Your wedding day should be a day to never forget.
The ceremony can take place from 2025 in the newly renovated 16th-century wedding hall or, if the weather is nice, in the intimate castle garden.
Of course, you can also come to us for organizing the entire wedding day up to the dinner. After the official ceremony, there is an opportunity to toast together on the terrace of the former Donjon and cut the wedding cake, followed by a delicious dinner with close family and best friends. Everything can be arranged according to your own wishes; in principle, the castle is not furnished, but we work closely with other parties to decorate the castle according to your taste and desires.
We strive to provide you with an unforgettable day. Make an appointment with us at the castle so that we can enthusiastically show you the entire location and discuss the possibilities with you. Castle Hernen is a top location for the beginning of a fantastic marriage.
