About the venue
Duurstede Castle in Wijk bij Duurstede is one of the oldest medieval castles in our country and is a romantic wedding venue.
Your own castle and island
Getting married in your own castle. That’s possible at Duurstede Castle. It is one of the oldest castles in the Netherlands and is located on a historic castle island. This island is exclusively available to you on your big day.
Romantic surroundings
The castle has an atmospheric courtyard with a covered terrace that is perfect for cutting the wedding cake or for a relaxed drink or champagne toast. Of course, your vows deserve at least as inspiring a setting. Besides the romantically decorated wedding hall, it is also possible to get married outside!
Different spaces
Inside, the castle also sparks the imagination. Arched ceilings, historic fireplaces, and chandeliers create a beautiful backdrop for your dinner, buffet, reception, and/or party. As the castle has several rooms for both small and large groups, there is always a suitable space for every activity on your wedding day.
Rooms and photo locations
Take, for example, the Bishops' Hall, located on the second floor of the Donjon Tower. Ideal for a sparkling evening party with music. From this hall, you have a stunning view over the castle island, including the surrounding castle park with trees over one hundred fifty years old. This historic location with its towers, moat, and drawbridge is perfect for a photoshoot.
