Het Molenhuis is an exclusive wedding venue by the water in Woudsend, Friesland. The monumental building from 1719 has 25 rooms and a maximum of 124 sleeping places. The ceremony, drinks, dinner, party, and overnight stay can all take place at one location. No one has to go home or to a hotel in the evening, and the next morning everyone can come together again for breakfast.

There are various options on the grounds to fill your wedding weekend. Exchange vows outside by the water, with the historic sawmill as a backdrop. Toast under the stretch tent, dine at long tables, or choose an informal setup with food trucks. For the party, there is a cozy wooden pavilion with a professional bar, lighting and sound facilities, and plenty of space for a DJ or band. If the weather changes, there are good indoor options for the ceremony, dinner, and party.

Het Molenhuis offers a lot of freedom. You can choose your own caterer, photographer, stylist, musicians, and other suppliers. There is a professional kitchen available, and we can also recommend suppliers who know the venue well. The bar and the stretch tent are arranged through Het Molenhuis. This way, you keep control over the wedding while the main facilities are already in place.

The water can also be part of your program. Think of a drinks reception on board the authentic salon boat, a trip with canoes, or a sailing activity for guests. For weddings with children, Het Molenhuis can create a supervised watersport program. The children can be present during the important moments and have their own adventure on and around the water in between.

Rick is your main contact person from Het Molenhuis. He guides the application, arranges the viewing, and thinks practically about the spaces, the grounds, the accommodations, and the possibilities on location. He is not a wedding planner: you keep the script and the organization in your own hands or arrange it together with your own wedding planner.
