Say yes in the middle of the city, at the foot of the oldest part of Leiden: that can be done at De Burcht. Our halls, courtyard, and terrace provide an intimate, atmospheric setting for a ceremony, dinner, or party that fits you perfectly. Getting married at Grand Café de Burcht means that everything can take place at one location: welcoming guests, morning coffee, the changing moment, the first look, a photoshoot in the park surrounding the Burcht with a view over the city, by the canal, or in the characteristic city center of Leiden, ceremony (indoors or outdoors), cutting the wedding cake, drinks, dinner, and party. We will help you with the planning, the food, the layout, and everything around it.

De Burcht might be the oldest part of Leiden. As early as the 11th century, there was a round fortress on an artificial hill here, built to protect the city, where the Rijn and the Mare meet. For centuries, the Burcht overlooked life in the city, and it still is one of the most recognizable places in Leiden.

At the foot of that history, you will find our grand café. In a building that has also experienced many stories, we now prefer to serve a good glass rather than defend the city. But the feeling remains: this is a place to come together. To toast, to eat, to celebrate, to enjoy a drink.

A good moment deserves a good place. A place where atmosphere naturally arises, where you welcome people as you would at home, but with just a bit more space, attention, and service. At Grand Café de Burcht, you will find that place.

Inside, we have three rooms: The Grand Café and the Serre on the 1st floor, the Tuinzaal on the ground floor. All are wheelchair accessible. Suitable for wedding ceremonies, dinners, drinks, and gatherings of all kinds and sizes. We ensure that everything is perfect so you can toast, eat, chat, or dance while we take care of everything in the background.

The Tuinzaal is an atmospheric, bright space, perfect for a ceremony, drinks, dinner, or party with a larger group. Shielded from the rest, but still with the liveliness of De Burcht. It is also possible to rent (part of) our Grand Café or Serre. Outside, we have our courtyard (adjacent to the Tuinzaal) and our terrace (adjacent to the Grand Café), both with a beautiful view of the Burcht of Leiden. Tuinzaal, Serre, Grand Café, and outdoor spaces can also be combined for drinks or a party for up to 450 people.
