About the venue
The 17th-century Amstelkerk in Amsterdam, once a makeshift church where Napoleon reputedly housed his horse, has transformed into a charming venue—an idyllic haven of tranquility and serene beauty in the heart of the city.
Since the 1990s, the central space of the church has been utilized for lectures, symposia, dinners, receptions, concerts, and, of course, weddings! Amstelkerk, situated near the characteristic Amstelveld, adjacent to Reguliersgracht, Kerkstraat, and Prinsengracht, stands as the most multifunctional venue of Stadsherstel. It encompasses offices, residences, the NeL restaurant, and a permanent exhibition space. By choosing to rent this venue, you contribute to the restoration and preservation of Amstelkerk, not just as a venue but as an integral part of our capital city.
Step into Amstelkerk, and you'll be bathed in light. The white wooden walls and ceiling, the spacious nave, and the daylight streaming through tall windows from Amstelveld create a characteristic bright and airy atmosphere.
The monumental restored Bätz organ can still be played, available for a fee. All modern amenities, including heating and restroom facilities, are present in this historic monument. We collaborate with professional partners in catering and AV services. Right opposite the entrance of Amstelkerk, you can dock your boat to add an extra memorable touch to your wedding.
In a theater-style arrangement, there are 180 seats, accommodating up to 280 persons at receptions. Around tables, up to 100 people can dine in this atmospheric setting, and at straight tables, up to 130 individuals.
The proximity of De Duif, just a stone's throw away, provides the opportunity to combine both monumental Stadsherstel locations. Imagine a dinner in De Duif, coupled with a reception in Amstelkerk.
